Carol Singing on Tuesday December 19th
Following the popularity of this event last Christmas, we’re really hoping that everyone will join in again, either as carol singers, or as an "audience" along the way.
Carol singers - meet in St Mary’s Church at 6.15pm, ready to set off at 6.30pm
If you're a bit rusty on some of the words, don't worry, we’ll be using the carol sheets from church – don’t forget your specs if you need them. The plan is to visit the following spots, in this order, singing 2 or 3 carols at each.
- Bradleys Yard
- Fellows Yard
- The grassed area outside The Old Post Office
- The Poplars
- Saddlers Yard
We'll then walk up Church Lane, returning to church no later than 8 pm. We then plan to sing another couple of carols near the war memorial before heading back inside the church for mince pies and mulled wine.
If you aren’t planning to join the carol singing group, please do look out for us at our stopping off points and come out to either join in the singing or enjoy being sung to.
Please let Jackie Clark know if you're coming back to Church afterwards, so we can have enough refreshments ready for everyone.
If you have lanterns, bring them along and it's a good idea to bring a torch too. Maybe consider wearing something light coloured / reflective if you can, for safety's sake as we will have a couple of roads to cross.
The main aim of the evening is to get together and enjoy a festive sing around the village of the traditional carols we all know and love. However we’ll also be collecting for the South Nottinghamshire Group of Riding for the Disabled which is based at Lings Lane Riding Stables in Keyworth.
Last year we raised a fantastic £220 for School for Parents in Nottingham, a charity that helps local disabled children with their mobility and communication.
