Baptisms, Marriages and Burials
This page enables you to access baptism, marriage and burial entries transcribed from the Plumtree parish registers. These entries should enable most common genealogical enquiries to be answered.
There are thousands of records (over 3,900 baptism records alone) so we have tried to present the information in a manageable format. Accordingly, you can search for all entries with a specific date or name, and sort the registers by entry date and surname. Entries are displayed in "chunks" of between 10 to 100 records, rather than as one huge entity.
The following links lead to the Plumtree Church Baptism, Marriage and Burial registers for the years 1588 to 1913. Note, these are large files and may take a few seconds to load.
More detailed register entries
We are also able to provide much more detailed information based on our database of 'augmented' register record entries which are cross-indexed to other family members to provide more background information.
In particular, our burial records have been significantly expanded to include, where applicable, the associated plot number in Plumtree Churchyard, a photo of the headstone and the text of its inscription.
Also, we can perform ‘fuzzy’ matching for alternative spellings of surnames; for example, a search for “Linaker”, will also return matches for “Linacre”, “Lineaker”, “Lineakor”, “Linekar”, “Lineker” and “Linneker”, all of which appear in the registers due to historical spelling differences and transcription variations from the original handwritten entries.

The detailed register entries are being constantly updated, so it isn’t practicable to display them on the Plumtree Village website. However, if you have a register enquiry, simply email us and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
1841 to 1911 Censuses
We have also computerised the 1841 to 1911 Censuses for Plumtree, Normanton-on-the-Wolds and Clipston-on-the-Wolds (Clipstone) and are gradually supplementing the entries with background information gleaned from the parish registers.
Once again, we can make this information available at very short notice; simply email us.
There is an Interactive Churchyard feature available on the Plumtree Church website which allows you to discover the location of a headstone for someone who is buried (or whose ashes are interred) in Plumtree Churchyard.
The Plumtree Registers and Census databases were designed by Carruthers Solutions Limited. Because of their size the Plumtree Church Baptism, Marriage and Burial registers are hosted on the Carruthers Solutions website.
Although we have taken great care when compiling the information, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of its contents; users are advised to corroborate our information with their own research.
